I use toluene as an additive sometimes, but what are you personally hoping to do with it?

You MUST get your car mapped appropriately or you will lose power on higher octane potentially as the burn is too slow, and this can also result in a catastrophic increse in exhaust gas temperatures.

Toluene smells mint though, and its ****ing ace for starting bbq's cause its so slow burning, come over to the vauxsport camping area at PVS to see a demo, lol

chip, up until last year i used to work with toluene at my plant. we used it to hold polymers in solution until the batch reached the filters. we used to have to put 6-7 tonnes of toluene on to the filters without local exhaust ventilation (it was broke )
toluene if you inhale it causes you to halucinate. It was common on shifts for some people to hear defining music that wasnt there. Toluene makes mechanical noise apear musical. it will usually play the last song you listened to, or one that has the same beat as the machinery, in your head. Often people saw disco lights, the equipment would rise and fall and walls would appear to flow like a slow waterfall. a few people ended up losing their jobs due to addiction.
next time you use it inhale the vapour for a minute or so, and you'll know what i mean.

Correct me if im wrong, but i was told today that these "High Performance" fuels are unsuitable for older engines i.e those manufactured before this generation of fuel came out. I was told this is mostly due to the fuel being so clean and refined that putting it in a 'dirty' engine can effectively wash it out and de-coke it should i stop using V-power in my astra or is it ok to continue to do so?

i used bp ultimate till a shell opened up near me i know use v-power there's no real increase in performance but my gsi runs a lot smoother

quote from my haynes manual

c16xe - 98 RON super, 95 RON premium, 91 RON regular**

** if no higher octane unleaded fuel ia avaliable 91 RON regular can be used, provided severe engine loads and full throttle operation is avoided

nothing to do with age of engine although the ecu adjusts to suit

v-power all the way

i use v shell where possible or super unleaded from sainburys when i am watching the pennies. but when i do, i have to do a 20mile round trip to get the V Power shell fuel living in the sticks, but my car seams to love the stuff, and does more miles to the gallon, sometimes. so its all good!!
