Have had a small rush of blood to the head and actually sold a car. Dont scream Jack! it wasnt the Diplomat. Next day I did buy a new one though, dont panic!
Having discounted quite a few possible new toys, I remembered I had a V8 sized itch that has needed scratching for as long as i remember and in a few days i pick up this:-

Still learning a lot about these mostly from OZ and the PH HSV forum, but this fits all the criteria I had, bar one, once i had started looking into which car from my shortlist of possible toys I desired, and then the one to have to fit my tastes:-
Early model, no lairy bodykit or exhaust/bonnet nostrils, and full size boot unlike late ones,
pre 56 plate so helpfully - band K tax,
25K, so Low miles, full VX serv. history, all the MOTs,
No optional rear spoiler ruining the view out back and ruining the lovely coupe shape,
One of the only colours I like them in, with very few blemishes,
Super smooth quiet ride, perfect slick gearchange, silent un-clonky diff, minty interior, everything works,
Network Q mega checks and they have had their arm twisted into a full years warranty, new tyre, full alignment, the Huge service, air con service and new key/fobs, happening as I type this,
All that spec and electricness,
Fairly epic drive,
Very shiny! but still understated and subtle-ish,
and utterly unmolested and seemingly standard (at the mo!) bar what i think is a rear debadge and the aussie CV8 badge in the pic.
Insuring one of these seems to take double the amount of phone calls than usual, but its all sorted and they dont mind proper mods.
So keeping the Cavalier for continuing the daily commute to work/winter roaring about, but will be enjoying the more sumptuous CV8 occasionally to work with the 10 speaker Blaupunkt and then again plenty of fun at the weekends.
Plans....
well the only drawback I could see with this model in general as opposed to the VXR or later ones are the std late Omega sized/stylee brakes, which are a known weak area, which on this car are still on std pads. They could be a lot better.
Also, It's actually a 54 plate, not 04, thats someones idea of a private plate, so almost certainly a new cherished plate with a legal import sized front one that fits the recess, not the present comedy style std one.
So the whole deal should be brought together with the monster AP racing kit from Monkfish, when its landed that is and when I've got out of it as the smile i had nearly didnt fit through the door hole on exit.
And no Johnny, I wont be joining the old farts in the Autobarnstormers!
Will be on the MIG stand at any shows.
More pics when it arrives.
