| I was with HIC for 3 years as they where the only ones who would insure my 16v GTE for sensible money, seemed to average £400 for TPFT each year.
BUT once I hit the big 30 they majors started to talk sensible money and I got the astra insured with AXA for £380 full comp (5 year NCD) HIC still want £430 for TPFT!
These days I have my Turbo Coupe (Opel!) insured with Direct Line for £500 fully comp(full discount 33yrs old 0 points).
The moral? check, recheck and double recheck every year as one little change in your circumstance (or age!!) can suddenly make you more accetable to the big boys ,obviously if your running a highly modded car your proberly going to be stuck with the specialists |

| This is madness. So what does a 20 year old with a Mk2 GTE 16v pay, fully comp, with 3 years NCB?
OK so I'm nearly 30 now, but when I had mine (when I was 20) it was, from memory, £582.00, only went up slightly with the courtenay cams and stuff.
My Nova 1.3SR @ 17 was £342.00 fully comp with no NCB as a first car. It wasn't even £400 with the twin 40's on when I was 18.
Has the world gone totally mad and why are you people paying such stupid amounts?
I admit my cars were garaged which makes a difference.
Jasovanooo: how much is the cav worth? Spec/age etc? Must be very new (and worth a lot) to be worth paying £1750 AND making a claim on. |

| Does anyone know if they cover cars with nitrous fitted?
Adrian Flux is our main insurer but it's always good to know a few more.

| HIC are the way forward !!! i had a camper they were great, i had a cav gsi, they were very cheap. i had a standard ford escort and they screwed me over. I got a cav turbo and it is cheaper then my cav gsi cool hu.
the only bad thing about them is the 18minute calls but ring them after 7pm and you will get the best quotes..

| might give them a try when my insurance is up for renewal (nov). it's a bit hard getting quotes on a cav v6 when under 21 cus it's over 2.0l.
if you're reading this and haven't passed your test yet, i'd advice to do pass plus, cost me £100. some firms only took £50-80 off but norwich union took £1000 off |

| Just had my renual quote from HIC and it was £876 full comp on my 1992 calibra turbo.Got a quote from performance direct £532 fully comp I only used HIC for my Renault 5 turbo as i wanted an agreed value, and as i have taken it off the road to strip it down to a bare shell and re build it i wasnt willing to pay the quote. When i switched my pollicy over from the renault to the calibra it cost me £80+admistration. |

#96 | | Guest | I found HIC to be V good. Fiat Punto (easy now, only driving it cos its cheap to run while I do up my MK2 Astra!) 1.7 Turbo Diesel, Full com, business Insurance, drive any car. £24 a month. Admittedly, I'm 30 with 5ncd, but I think its good. Only downside is you spend ages waiting to get through to them. Still reccommended. | |

| well one thing that i have noticed is that your insurance is alot cheaper than us in nothen ireland the last quote i got at age 20 for a gp3 corsa valuaed at £500 and but i had 4 ponts was 2500 TPFT now i think we get it a hell of alot harder than yourselvs lol im on the hunt now for a good modified insurers as i hae no points and want to but my modded nova on the road when shes finished but i dont want to be payin over 3 or 4g for it. so if ya know any good insures that cover nothern ireland give me a shout. i v been told flux dose so they will get a call but any others would be cool, cheers lee |
