Re: HIC Insurance Discount

A few people have asked what HIC were like to deal with in the event of a claim so i thought i would give my 2p

I was rear ended while stationary at a pedestrian crossing a few weeks back. Was a saturday afternoon so couldn't speak to them till the Monday.

HIC were brilliant to deal with

Even though the guy that hit me did a runner and police were involved they had a hire car at my door by lunchtime the next day. Claim was settled in 7 weeks which I believe is good but probably would have been much sooner if there was no hassle with police reports etc. They gave me callbacks without any prompting and kept me informed of what was happening and who was dealing with my case.

I just went back with them for another year

96 Vectra 1.8; 23yrs old; 2yrs no claims; 2 yrs driving; track cover; legal cover; Drive anything else. Quote: £425

EDIT 23/12/04: Guy that ran into me got £400 fine and 6 points.

Good to hear that HIC came through when it counts.

Surely your Nova is worth more? Looks mint!

Tried them on the Astra Coupe, the girl on phone was very nice, but they were 22% over Liverpool Victoria. I then asked about insuring the Cavalier SRi, the girl got very excited and said we are better with older cars, came back with £800, so that was that.

Im insured with hic. 750 pound tpft, on a cav gsi, no ncd, and im 21.
Been with them a year now, they wanted to charge 35 pound for legal cover,
so i said no then when i rang back to take it up they said it was free and included.
and would not let me take it off and save 35 pounds (on some sort of bonus for it).....
good company have to wait while to get to talk to them when u call (which a bit of a nightmare).
.
but 100% cheeper then every where else, and i work for an insurance company.
and i cant find anyone to beat them.

I tried to get a quote for my Calibra 2.0 16v today. I phoned and spoke to Andy. ( very helpful Guy) He told me that because i have never had a policy in my own name (have always had company cars) that he would not be able to provide me with a quote on this car. Never mind. Managed to get a quote from Elephant.co.uk for £540. 23 year old, 3 points ( SP30 ) no NCB, Never had insurance in my own name, Not bad i thought.
