    Re: MIGWeb Announcement

Welcome to the new 'boss'....but I'm struggling to see what you get out of it Steve....

Can you be a bit more transparent, as in how much did you buy the forum for ?
Why did you buy it ?
Presumably money making must be involved ?

Which other forums do you own, have you taken over etc?

    Thanks

At the moment they are only appearing if you aren't logged in. I don't have any problems at all with that.

No it hasn't. You're either mistaken, uninformed or lying. I don't know which, but my opinion, based on what I've read of your posts , is probably a bit of each.
It has only just started hence why corsadonk mentioned it.
And why I've only just noticed them after 10+ years of perusing mig.

But as I stated I don't have a problem with them at all, I'm far more interested in seeing a new owner remove/ replace some of the utterly uninspirational, personality free 'characters' currently responsible for promoting the site. I'm sure you know precisely who I have in mind, GTE16v.

Dont bank on it matey. The easiest option i always find is log out and forget about those that inspire you least with their lack of personality. That said many sites are like that so it could make your spare time browsing the net a little boring.
Please ensure all events queries are pm'd in my direction. Please be patient and i will get back to you very soon.

Wut? The adverts appeared when the forums upgraded from vBulletin 2 to version 3. That was about 3-4 years ago.
    They're there, in their room.

Why else would you buy a web site? Corse it's to make money.

Why do you wanna know what was paid? Surely that's between Mike and Steve.

    Re: MIGWeb Announcement

And Mike's said that the subs will not be going to the new owner, so how's he making money since there are no adverts on the site? I don't care how much it was tbh, that's their business, but I'm a little concerned about what the **** is actually going on here?

    Re: MIGWeb Announcement

Welcome to Mig Steve, I am sure people will get to know you better as the time goes by, people are always afraid of the new boss in case of reforms, redundancies and restructuring of the site, its called efficiency measures! thats just a normal way of turning a loss making venture into a more profit making enterprise.

So good luck in your new venture, hope your investment pays off handsomely, why not, and as for Mike, who founded Mig, it was his baby, what he does with it is his business, I wish him well in his future plans and ambitions. Though I hope Mike can stay on as a member! Wouldn't it be nice for him to pop in now and again to see old friends!
God does exist, to meet him, the price is quite high, he lives in 9th Dimension, to get there only your Soul can travel there at faster than the speed of light, first you will have to shed your physical body, then just hope you have got on the right highway to heaven.

    Nothing!

    Re: MIGWeb Announcement

    How's he making money?

Well there's a couple of levels of advertising, firstly companies pay adsense and other ad sites an amount to advertise, Steve gets paid for giving out space for advertising on his site, he gets X amount for the simple slot that Google own and Google will pay Y amount for the amount of views that the ad gets, furthermore there is Z which is a "clickthrough" seperate from views and the space in which the ad is placed.

This is all usually rolled up into one sum which is sent to Steve from Google (normally) in the form of a cheque.

This is my understanding based on the Google adsense program, prices and payments differ MASSIVELY however one could earn a living from ads alone and many do.

    Welcome to the fold Steve.

    Re: MIGWeb Announcement

What adverts??!! One of the main perks of paying subs is the site isn't splattered with adsense bollocks. This is what I don't understand. If the sites gonna be covered in adverts I'm not paying subs. If some of the membership money goes to running the site then fair enough.
