On Friday I was happily looking at our server stats thinking, damn, the server hasn't been down for exactly 200 days, not bad going. The following day, MIGWeb is gone.
The reason for this is that on Saturday night, the MIGWeb server host (The Planet) suffered an electrical short, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding the electrical equipment room Thankfully, no one was injured. In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost.
This was a significant outage, impacting approximately 9,000 servers and 7,500 customers. All members of the support team are in, and all vendors who supply them with data centre equipment were on site.
It is good news that nobody was hurt, and we thank The Planet from doing all they could to restore service as soon as reasonable under the circumstances. I would also like to than MIGWeb users from being patient while waiting for service to be restored.
