You what?

So a user searching for a fix, or idea regards their Vauxhall, they stumble along to a Vauxhall club, find a good answer, and some suggestions for other things, etc.
How does that then make their enthusiasm towards Vauxhalls and technical stuff decrease?.
Its a bit of a sweeping statement.

No it's not.

As more people join, the percent of hardcore elite members goes down.

If the club has 100 members, 10 of which are actively doing projects and rebuilds, that's 10%.

But if 10'000 people join, you're never going to have 1'000 people doing projects and making technical posts, it'll be more like 100.

I love it how people express opinion as fact.

Jack, i'm sorry you sound like a clever enough guy and there is some level of plausability behind what you say, but it sounds like your assuming that none of the new people, or at least very few of them, have any useful knowledge. And it would also seem that your more worried about the diluting of the clubs 'clique' and their posts being ignored than anything else.

I'm not even sure what your arguement is, as if they're encouraged toward the technical posts then this is likely to increase the clubs knowledge base - one of it's greatest assests.

People who want to chat about sewing patterns or exchange fart jokes can still do so - it's just the rest of us don't have to see it now.

What? That's exactly what you'd get! More questions, hopefully more answers, because there are more people around.

It's not all about the 'hardcore' technical stuff, people need to know the less 'hardcore' stuff like - is it worth fitting an induction kit to an XE, or what's the best design for a sub box in a Nova?

All car related, maybe not very challenging for some, but stull usefull.

But a bit boring?

Anyway, there isn't enough (any) of a feeling of community on here apart from social cliques, and I don't think trying to force the site into a direction it doesn't want to take won't work. Carrot rather than stick needed here.

There was no argument, really.

It's just an observation.

You can't have it all ways.

You can't have a massive massive club comprising of the entire population of the UK, and keep the same level of technical threads.

A lot of people have useful information. However, this is Mig Performance Vauxhalls, not Mig Vauxhall Diagnosis.

Having said that, I don't come into the Performance category yet, so let's just say my opinion is null and void and pretend I never said anything.

This is what I see on my browser as usual and when I click on New Posts there seems to be no changes to the type of the threads posted as they are all catagories, mechanical, electrical, humour and offtopic, same as usual so what has changed?

This is what I see in the usual Mig Bar

UserCP, FAQ,Member's List, Calander,New Posts,Search, Quick links, and Log out.

Er, possibly not been implemented on Planet MSG then, because I can't see a single topic from Off Topic in my right hand column?

The new changes are definitely not going to help anyone if they can't see a broader picture under new posts. I am quite dissapointed now.

Before we could all see any new posts in a go, of every catagory, giving us an overall picture of what has been posted, now we will have to visit individual catagories in the off-topic which is very clumsy to do so, its not like you got buttons that you can click and off you go to any catagory you want, first you have to scroll the page right down to select the catagory you want by scrolling down a list of catagories and then you click on one you want only to find there is no new post in it,

Sorry Mike, but I hope you will resume the old fashioned way !

I could well miss a lot of new important posts in any catagory if I couldn't see them all at a glance in the New Posts!

Here is an example:

Lets say people were happy with the new changes because they couldn't be bothered to scan through all the new posts list, and lets say they only saw the On-topic subjects because as they said their only interest with this site is for On-Topic ( thats to do with cars )

So what happens if a user or a member who is only interested in the On-Topic subjects doesn't visit the off-topic side, and what if there was something intersting in the Off-Topic threads that he would not see otherwise, which may be of some significant /critical value or information that he could well end up not knowing anything about it.

I know there is a lot of drivel in these off-topic threads but then again there are some that are quite informative, intersting, and educating.

Agree 100% fella.

I am often refered to as being in a clique, yet started a piss up thread in pretty much the most central area there is. One potential staff member in attendance, admin arent arsed, so if they cant be bothered why should anyone else?
