Buying on MIG? Read this first!

Few people having their fingers burned on MIG of late.

Lots can be done to help yourself.

Full guidelines can be found here http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/faq.php?faq=forsale, but here is the highlights for buyers

    a. Negotiations MUST be done on the advert thread. You must not contact the seller outside of the thread.

    b. Once a deal is agreed on the thread, both seller and buyer must PM each other full contact details including phone number. We urge buyers to phone the number to ensure it is valid. Copy a record of these details in case they are needed at a later date. If the other person is not willing to pass this information on, do not continue with the sale.

    c. Prompt payment should be made by cash in person, PayPal or cheque. These options provide you with the greatest security. Do not send money via PayPal as a gift as there is no PayPal refund policy for this method of payment. Bank transfer straight into a sellers bank account also very unsafe.

    d. Once you have the item, make sure it is what you expected. If the item was not described correctly, contact the seller ASAP detailing the issue you have.

    e. If the seller does not answer PMs or emails, raise a helpdesk ticket so we can keep an eye on the situation.
You are also advised to raise this issue with your local police station, giving them all the details you have.

    f. Leave feedback - positive or negative, so that other buyers can get an idea of how trustworthy the seller is.

Main ones people are not doing are:-
    • Obtaining any contact details. Address and phone number are a must
    • Paying money directly into someones bank account
    • Please do NOT pay for anything as a gift.

Please can I also point out that MIG takes no responsibility in trades taking place on this site.

I would also point out that moderators or admin staff are not paid for this work, but will help when we can.

    Cheers all
