    cheers, ryan
Should be fine for this - I've not tested it on a coil output as yet so dont know how well it will cope with the ringing effect the coil produces. I have however tested it on a standard ECU to tachometer output (nice clean signal) and it works perfectly for this.

To convert from Kph to Mph you need to divide by 1.61 which this unit will do - no problem.

In theory it should work on a coil pack. I'm using optoisolators on the inputs and outputs to stop anything nasty hitting the processor so should work.

    Only testing will tell though.

    It will increase in miles

You dash will still say Kph and KM but will display Mph and miles

yeh but it has to be programmed to change, unlike the mk2 dash which you turned the knob to switch between mph and kmph

Will need a bit of testing but I'm pretty happy with the way the first unit has performed on my car - will need a bit more testing but I've got plenty of volunteers now

Ok - a "where its at at the moment" report.

Initial prototype has been breadboarded and tested - works fine
PCB has now been designed and prototype units (2 off) will start being built tomorrow.

    Things still to do:
Write code for storing the calibrated value in the Eeprom of the unit
Some code tidying (i.e. watchdog enabling etc)
Place order with distributor for components for more units.

    Astra GTE 16v
Dom, would this unit be able to convert the signal from a standard 16v Astra GTE to an Opel Monza Trip Computer?

If i remember rightly, the GTE has a 16 pulse sender and the Monza has a 4 pulse? I think it would display the figure 4 times as much as it should (not sure yet as it isnt fitted).

Could it work to reduce the output to the correct amount?

It should work. I can always do custom versions with higher divisors if need be.

Its when it goes the other way i.e. 4 pulse sender to 16 pulse dash that thing start getting less accurate.

You'll get one for the moment mate - need to test them on a couple of cars before I spend too much on making more.

Problem is that they cost me more than I can afford to build - if they dont work then I've lost the money I've spent out on them If they do then I make money but at the moment I cant afford to lose anything (cant afford PV or new membership either lmao)

Need to tread carefully on this one until I know they are 100% and the ones I've sent out have happy owners

    Brilliant!

So how does it work then? I mean find out what wires are supplying the trip computer with the pulse and then tap into them?

It basically fits inbetween the existing speed sender and the thing you need the pulse changing for.

It samples the time between pulses then calculates the factor to multiply or divide it by to output a modified pulse.

So is it plug and play then?

Where abouts does it fit on? On the gearbox?
