    Proud new Astra owner

    Hey

After crashing my Clio iv picked myself up a mk4 Astra 2.0 16v x20xve. Got it very cheap as it wasn't the best mechanically or cosmetically. Had to fix a lot of small problems so far:

    Replacement alternator
    Aux belt
    AMF meter
    Full service
    Replacement passenger sun visor
Replacement spoiler from a vectra c
Replaced the front drivers side hub because the wheel sensor was buggered
    Replacement rocker cover gasket
Replaced the exhaust manifold gasket as it was blowing
Replaced loads of interior bulbs (dash, lighter, air con controls)

Thankfully I got it cheap enough that all this has been nothing. Been buying most of the parts from the breakers as well

Really enjoying the experience so far, the cars been a dream to work on.

    Damian .

X20XEV Mk4 Astra's seem to be great value at the moment. Cheap, economical and still have a little bit of poke if you want to bend the speed limit.

Yeah I picked mine up for £375, hence the amount of small problems. It came with a "sports"exhaust more of just a straight through pipe as it's fairly loud. I fitted an enclosed cone filter with air feed and removed the original filter housing and pipework. Iv got plans to blank the egr valve with a new homemade gasket and to make my own 4-2-1 manifold with 200cell cat very soon.

My plans are to also tidy up the car as best possible as it's has a lot of fairly deep scratches and scuffs. Iv already got a colour match paint so it should get me a close enough colour that I can then fade it in with other paintwork using t cut or similar.

    Cheers

EGR Valve blanked, 4-2-1 tubular manifold made and fitted, helicoiled two of the exhaust manifold studs because they where completely buggered, Sports cat on in the next few days, fitting a Z20LET Manifold to it in a few days as well to get rid of the terrible dual tract manifold as well. Shall be looking at boring out the throttle body as well, might get that done by next week (thinking 62mm like other people have gone for to be safe).

    Cheers
