I understand you're not looking at kenwood but heres my contribution anyhow:

I've got a set of Kenwood components in my doors and i can highly reccomend them. I was discussing them here:

    Kenwood Thread

Thing is they consist of a woofer and a tweeter. And the woofer is 7" so I had to buy seperate mounting brackets and build spacers etc. They're a real tight fit but are behind the standard grilles (just). The tweeters I fitted in the doors, in the plastic shielding the mirror fixings (got electric mirrors so no adjuster there) they at a perfect height and look good.

PM us if you're after any more info.

    Hope it helps.

Ive got JBL components. Speaker ring was required, cost me £95 for the speakers, £10 for the rings.

Fit straight in, and sound spot on.

Dont need to be 6.5" necessarily. I've got a mk3 as well and I have some really nice MB Quart 5.25" components, they came with adaptor rings. With the speaker pod from Autoleads and a combination of adpator rings I have some really smooth sounding speakers but with abit of kick as well.

I hate Kenwood, there speakers are crap (dont go off on one, its just my opinion)

yep 13cm in the front doors, MB Quarts are nice speakers, bit pricy but a good sound if u got a decent head unit
