IM TRING TO GET SOME COMPONENT SPEEKERS TO FIT THE FRONT OF MY MK 3 ASTRA GSI DOES NE ONE KNOW WHAT SPEEKERS FIT. I WAS TOLD U HAVE 2 BYE CUSTOM FIT SPEEKERS OS THIS TRUE????
The speaker and the angled rong that screw to the door are all one piece on the original ones, so you will have to get a pair of adaptor rings before you can replace the speakers.
There's not much room between the back of the speaker and the window, so you may need speakers that are thinner than normal.
Costom fits are usually best for there and if I remember correctly they are 16.5 inches across.
Best bet is to flip the grills off and measure across the speaker.
youve got roughly 4inches of depth to play with, use autoleads adapters and buy the best shallow cone speakers you can afford. A lot of the top brands do shallow-ish magnet speakers. Forget them custom ones, theyre pish.
best thing you can do is not use the plastic collars and make some out of mdf it doesnt take to long and you can get them to fit right!!
focal doe some 165 slimline speakers and they sound mint, there a proper componant set with crossover and everything
i used the plastic collars, but i sealed them in, with hot glue so that they have a snug fit with the door, and dosent rattle. you also need to make sure that the screws are very tight
i've got som rockfords in the front of mine (components) if you chop out where the standard speakers are and use the plastic bit to mount your new speaker to the door. worked well for me!
