    Unhappy Subs humming

    Hello,

My subs are starting to piss me off! All they do is hum (picking up engine noise), how can I stop it? I think it may have something to do with the earth on the amp? Can't see why? Good thick earth cable ground to a good place! How can you tell if you have a suppressor on you alternator? what does it look like?

    Many thanks,

    MattJ

Do the RCA Cables run down the same side of the car as the Power Cables for the amp ??
This is usually what causes the amp to pick up Interference.
The solution is to run the power down one side and the RCA's down the other - Takes longer but it's the right way to do it

    Hope this helps.

    Hello, thanks for the reply's.

The power cable (direct from battery) does run down the same side as the RCA's. To tell you the truth this has always been on the back of my mind that this is the cause mmmmm. Is there anything on the driver's side that can cause interference if I put the RCA's down that side?

    Thanks,

    MattJ

I usually try and run the RCA's down the side with the least standard wiring, but I don't think it matters.
I don't think there is enough current in the standard wiring to cause interference, but I might be wrong. I'm pretty sure the the major interference source will be the Amps's power cable.
