    I've applied for a job with one, is it a good job?

    I used to be the "Audio Expert" at halfords/ripspeed. the audio part was ok but halfords as a company sucks. The audio side had its ups and downs. Its good when you get a genuine customer needing advice who you can talk to and have a sensible conversation with, but for every one of them there are 5 pricks who want a 3000w sound-off system for £200 fitted to their nissan micra. then there are the "experts" who think they know everything but in actual fact know f-ck all. " yeah, my mate fitted these 16cm speakers in the front doors of his mini with no mods"
    -No they wont fit - "yeah they will, he did it no problem" - well if you buy them and they dont fit dont come back crying to me about it.
    Plus at halfords i got the usual range of stupid questions - is this the right colour paint? will these roof bars fit? will this baby seat hold a 14month old? etc etc etc

    And some of the wierder ones:
    Where are the kitchen suites?
    how much do u sell climbing frames for?
    how much to get my lawnmower serviced?
    i bought this clutch 4 1/2 years ago and its worn out, what are you going to do about it?

    Basically, dealing with the public can be an arse.

    The public can be an arse in any job though, did you earn much commision? or was it mostly basic wage?

    No, it was a basic salary.
    I suspect that you should encounter less wank customers if you are working for an ice specialist rather than a general parts/accessories place.
    Personally Id prefer the safety of a flat rate salary so if i have an few `off days` i dont loose money, but with a specialist there could be the oppertunity to make decent commision if you are good at the job.
