    Question Vectra B Aftermarket RCL

Hey all, new to the forum,

Recently bought a 2000 Vectra 2.0 DTi, which only has one key, and one fob (aftermarket). The fob has seen better days, it still works but I would rather get a spare or replace the system for another with 2 fobs.

There are no markings on the fob to establish a brand, to be honest it just looks like a cheap eBay style job, but the car is originally central locking but not sure if it is originally RCL,

Any advice? Can I buy a replacement control unit with fobs? I know people get stuff like Clifford etc, with seperate fobs, and replace the original control unit (I believe ) which is fine too, I just don't know what options I have

Does your c/l work using the key in the lock?

C/L control unit should be located under the drivers side kick panel. If there is an rf frequency on it, it's a remote c/l unit.

Replacement ones should be plug and play but you'll need one with the suitable key fobs. No idea what you have on yours, i'd guess an aftermarket alarm would be spliced into the original loom tbh.

It will be a unit that is piggy-backed onto your standard car RCL system so by all means if you locate the current unit ( most likely to be behind the glovebox ) you could replace it with again, another eBay type system which to be honest work quite well! Or you can spend the dollar and have a high spec alarm stuck on. I can't imagine it being a major problem either way mate.

I'll have a look in the morning, it's a bit dark and i'm off out to work now,

To respond, yes it has C/L off the key, the key is non genuine, as is the fob, could it be that this was cheaper than a new fob from vauxhall hence the change then? It's a 2000 LS, and I don't know if RCL was an option or standard fit

A new key and re-program at the dealer will be about £125 +vat so yes it sounds like its been done on the cheap to me mate. It would have central locking as standard.

Right, took the drivers kick panel off, this is the control unit

Found some wires had been tapped into

Followed the wires over to here

Found some spare wires taped up

Followed that back to the bulkhead

Which goes to this alarm box with no details

    This is the fob
