sub problem

hi all my mates sub isn't working iv checked the wires leading into the sub and the earth but it only seams to come on when it wants to for a split second im not that clued up on ice so any help would be apriciated

Get a multimeter (cheap from maplins!) and check there is power at the + terminal, power at the remote terminal and there is a difference in voltage between + and - (all on amp terminals). That should find your problem!
