vivaro radio problem

i have a siemens ncdr2011 in my vivaro and the controls on the steering wheel have just stopped working (quite possible its the squib) which im not too bothered about, the problem i have is when i go in to any settings it beeps and 'radio safe' comes up in the display for a second but all the settings work as normal as does the sat nav. its never done this before and its doing my head in, does anyone have any idea what it could be or if both problems could be related

bump, still have this problem. does anyone know if these need to be plugged into tech 2 to be paired with the vehicle?
