    Astra GTE 16V,

    Astra MK4 Key recoding?

    Hi everyone,

My buttons on my Fob stopped working so i popped in to my local Vauxhall dealers to get a new battery , and the guy said looks like its the fob, as with a new battery the LED does not light up ,

he quoted 80 quid for a new one,

i have seen em on ebay from 5-15 quid, how easy it it to reprogram them, i know the ford ones its just oress a few buttons and turn the ignition on and off a few times?

can these be done the same?

    cheers

the thing with vx remotes are the connections on the small circuit board are known for breaking or the solder joints comin loose, id be having a look at those first, try taking the board out of the remote and squeezing the battery holder onto the board and press the buttons at the same time, i think you will find this will work, then to reprogramme the lock/unlock function of the remote put the key in the ignition and turn the ignition on and press the lock and unlock buttons a few times, that will re-programme the remote into your car!

i dont know weather it will work on a new key, as yours is already hard coded to your car, might need a tech2 to programme in a brand new one
