Bizarre behaviour by factory fitted alarm LED??
Factory fitted Astra Mk3 anti-theft alarm, not sure whether it's 700 or 900 series. it's the type where the LED is incorporated in the Hazard switch.
I'm not sure if it's indicative of a failure somewhere else in the alarm system, or just the LED circuit is failing.
Upon all my Google searches, I can't find anyone who has had similar problem.
What's happening, is the LED is now on constantly, regardless of whether the car is deadlocked, unlocked, with the ignition on, with the engine running or with it off! But then completely randomly as a one off event, it will suddenly work normally. Rapid flashing when arming, steady flash when set. So, something somewhere has failed!
Initially, I thought the ultrasonic module might have failed and replaced it. I do use the 'dog mode' rather a lot. It made absolutely no difference.
Now some 6 months back, I did have a spate of the alarm going off at some of the most inappropriate times - like whilst driving along! Or failing to disarm when I un-deadlocked or when the key operated the ignition. But is hasn't done that for a few weeks now.
Among other things, I did gather from searching for my alarm LED problem; that random alarm sounding indicates the powersounder battery back-up pack is breaking down.
Would the two be connected? Or is the non-flashing LED indicating something else has failed as well\?

I had a similar problem like this ages ago, turned out to be a connection in the barrel on the back of the lock, slamming the door really hard seemed to fix it temporarily lol

As above, the cam mechanism on the back of the lock that activates the alarm has a tendency to break / fail and there is a small microswitch attached to the cam. Worth checking that out.
