    Delco CDR500 Display Issue

Hi and thank you for reading this.

I have just bought a 2000 X reg Astra that had an aftermarket unit fitted. Having sourced a Delco CDR500 unit from a 51 plate car I have just switchd the units.

My problem is that the display unit does not change from the date / time setting. I have removed and refitted a couple of times to check connections but no change. The steering controls work perfectly.

Any ideas as to what I should look at?

    Thank you in advance.
    Shane

    Re: Delco CDR500 Display Issue

Quick Google gets this, worked for me when fitting a CDR500 from my Astra G (10 digit) to my Corsa B (8 digit):

"...the following normally works. It basically involves changing
the stereo setting so it outputs as an 8-digit display rather than a
    10-digit.

All the radios have hidden display menus.

On a CDR500 hold the 3 and 5 button in and switch on (with the ignition on)
the radio will display DISPLAY 8 or DISPLAY 10. Hold the buttons in until
the radio beeps and the display will change from 8 to 10 or vice versa.
Release the buttons and switch the radio off and then back on and the
    programme will have been changed."
    They're there, in their room.

Unhappy Re: Delco CDR500 Display Issue

    Hi,

    Appreciate the quick reply.

    just tried:
    - switch ignition on
    - hold 3 & 5 down (and keep depressed till beeps)
    - press power button

Also tried the above with 4 & 6

Unfortunately, the date / time display stays on but no radio/CD data.

    Any other thoughts /ideas

    Regards
    Shane

Sounds like a break somewhere. You say you've checked the connections at the back of the radio, if these are all ok you should also check the wiring at the back of the display. It's possible a previous owner could have chopped the display wire from the radio at that end.

For the record, if the display type is set wrong on the radio (the button 3+5 setting above) the display will go blank when you swich on the radio.

Good point. The grey/ red wire may have been snipped at either end.

    Thank you gents,

I take it that the red/grey wire is on the uppermost connection block at the rear of the radio. Does make you wonder why they would ever need to disconnect it.
I will have a look during the week and update.

It's the only way to stop the display going blank when fitting an aftermarket stereo see.
