I have bought a VDO CDR500 for my 1999 corsa b i have replaced the original factory ftted radio cassete unit It switches on ok after inputting the code all the radio stations appear when i put a cd in the display says its playing track 1 but there is no volume at all ... when i put my radio back it works fine, Is there something i need to do . The guy who gave it me said it worked ok.

The volume knob is broken on mine too, looks like you bought a duff one.

is the volume knob wobbly? does it have a lot of side play?
these VDO models are renowned for the volume knob to go, they are rubbish and as far as i know you can't get spares
