    Setting up high pass filter

I run Vibe SEK-60 components off a JL Audio 4-channel amp. I've never got round to setting the high pass filter (I think that's the right one). I have a sub so don't want the comps taking any of the bass as they can distort sometimes.

Here's a picture of the settings, if anyone can give me an idea of what to set them too that would be good thanks.

On my cd player you can set the high pass between 78 and 120, looks like yours is set at 100Hz just need to flick the switch and try it out. The lower the number the more sub bass is getting to the speakers. 100Hz would be a good start and just tweak it till it sounds right. I read years ago that bass boost on a sub should be about 110 for extra kick so try that as the crossover point.

    Hi mate...

Would I be correct in assuming your 4ch JL Audio amplifier is driving the components from chs 1+2 and the sub bridged off chs 3+4 ??

    If so, then as a starting point, I would suggest you follow these settings;

    Channels 1+2
    1, Filter Mode = HP
    2, Filter Freq = 100Hz

When fine tuning simply LOWER Filter Frequency setting to suit components & personal taste....

    Channels 3+4
    1, Filter Mode = LP
    2, Filter Freq = 80Hz
3, Bass Boost = OFF, (these circuits tend to promote premature clipping)....
4, 3+4 Input = Set to Chs 1+2 if Head Unit only has one set of FULL RANGE Pre-Outs, (Stereo Pair).... Set to Discrete if using more than one set of RCAs/interconnects, (Front & Sub)....
5, Pre-Outs input = If using Amplifiers Pre-Outs to supply a second amplifier, (Set at '1+2' pre-outs are stereo, Set at 'Sum' pre-outs are monaural)....

Again, whilst fine tuning simply adjust the Filter Freq Downwards to suit sub & personal taste....

To gain a better idea check out the 'sticky' titled "A Few Audio Related Pointers".....
if it sounds right to you, then its right.

The 4-ch amp runs in 2-ch bridged for the components, then I have a 2-ch amp for the sub. Thanks for your post though, I'll have a look into it.
