Coding 2nd hand 2button fobs?!?!?

Can second-hand fobs be recoded to another vauxhall???

I'm basically after a spare key with remote buttons (99 astravan), and have seen a few different ones on ebay and i'm sure i can get a couple down the local vauxhall breakers!

But can they be recoded? If so do i need to use dealer level diagnostics?? Got access to the works snap on modus scanner but not sure if that will do it... or does it code in with a manual sequence???

Ans also are they all the same frequency or do they vary??????

They're different if memory serves, Megamos or Bosch on the earlier Astra's depending on alarm or not.

Remember that the key, and immobiliser chip can only be coded once though.
