    Re: Question about speakers and tweeters.

    You never mentioned an actual budget, but a few serious contenders;

    SPL Dynamics
    Focal access
    DLS B6
    Genesis Profile
    Rainbow slx265
    Coustic CS652

    Please remember that your opinion will differ from mine... You have your tastes as I have mine...

    I'm not slating your opinion or the brand you consider to be suitable, indeed the OP may well enjoy the heavy handedness of the Vibe sound, but alas, I don't....

    If you desire bass which hammers at your head, or high frequencies that will give cats & dogs a headache at 3 miles, then Vibe are perfect for you.... Only my opinion..lol..

    If you want a nice natural sound which is more suitable for moderate listening levels & greater clarity then Coustic are hard to beat.... In fact they perform as well as some components which cost 3 or 4 times as much....
    if it sounds right to you, then its right.

    I know exactly what you mean, when i first got my car i wanted a medium sound, somthing you could listen to every day without cause a brain hemerage lmao ... And for that i installed Kenwood allround, now beleive it or not they are fantastic, bought them for around £50 for the pair, easy wireing and great sound responce!

    However after a few months and the 'lower' sound grew a bit thin, i decided to invest in Fusion sub and amp, kicking out 1500 watts for the amp and 1000watt on the sub it isn't somthing you listen everyday, and on the flip side has distroyed my little kenwoods..

    But set up of the Amp e.t.c is the key factor to what kind of sound you get out of your system, When i first got my Fusion kit i had no idea of how to set the settings, so i put everything to full and it just sounds bad. After a few weeks of researching and sitting down and putting my sterio on full (annoying everyone around me lmao) and changing the settings bassed on sound.

    vibe stuff is good but you can get better for the money, if you want speakers in the back then just put 6x9 in, but the back sould be just for bass and the front is for speakers so you can hear the music, i would make some custom door cards for front and back and put some good component speakers in them and then put the tweeters in the A post, get some good amps to power the speakers and tweeters and your sorted, and if you want build a good subwoofer box to improve your bass

    Re: Question about speakers and tweeters.

    spl dynamics are mean, there subs kick you in the back of the head hard trust me i know iv just spent over £800 on building a custom subwoofer box that fills the whole of my corsa b boot the back seats have even been moved forward 2 clicks but i get the front window flexing, the wing mirrors and centre mirror flexing like mad it looks like there going to fall off lol and i get abit of roof and door flexing and the back wiper, spoiler and number plate flex like mad also abit of boot flex
    i have a box build to 4.2 cuft after displacement of subs and port, the port is tuned to 33hz, 2 12"inch spl dynamics xtr 300 d4 subs, 2 vibe black box bass 4 mono amps, a huge bmw battery in the back as well as the standard one in the front, full 0 gauge wiring and the bass is super loud and very clear

    Who uses 6x9's? LMAO

    6x9's should never be used... EVER!
    i use components in the rear, and a sub and have no door speakers in the front due to funds... the conversion has drained me for the time being...

    All go no show :-(

    yeah, but i bet your aim is not to see how much flex you can create with panel's + subwoofer's!
    hehehe,

    Back to the subject of audio.... can anyone guess how many more watts (rms) are required to double the volume?

    Good mate of mine used to have a very "chavvy" fiesta, he had 3 x 10" maystar sub's (£50) each and 2 600w Boschmann Amps(£120 each) , in An spl competition he came third pushing 143 Db.... his fiesta didn't flex

    Certainly mate;

    To achieve twice the audible power, (10dB increase), roughly equates to 10X the rms wattage....
    So if;
    250w rms yields 130dB
    500w rms yields 133dB, (all things being equal)
    1Kw rms yields 136dB, (all things being equal)
    2Kw rms yields 139dB, (all things being equal)
    2.5Kw rms yields approx 140dB, (twice the output volume for ten times the power)....
    if it sounds right to you, then its right.

    The Cavalier was used as a teaching aid with regards novice boomers who had little or no idea what the various amp features & controls did.... I would estimate the use of the Cavs audio would be a 70 30 split, so 70% of the time the boot was open, no point without rear components.... Whilst listening in the car the fader was used to give a front end bias....

    In its various guises, over the last 5yrs, I would estimate that a good 1000+ newbies have had the benefit of toying with the Cavs audio.... I'm a firm believer that advice backed up by actual proof is the best way to learn....

    Wallopsri... your a legend... nice work on that!

    Makes a change to actually talk to someone who knows about this sort of thing, instead of saying something like i have a massive BMW battery in the back of my corsa! :L

    wouldn't mind having a proper look at that sometime! might even have to ask for some advice :-)
