jvc h/u memory problems - wiring?

Hi, ive a JVC KD-R401 in my mk4 astra van

purchased from halfords a few months ago by the previous owner

JVC KD-R401 CD/USB Receiver from Halfords Price £89.99 Web Offer! 10% Off Selected Car Audio. Discount applied in basket

When the ignition is turned off, all the sound equaliser/display etc settings resort to factory std ones. tried swapping the red/yellow wires on the harness over, but doing that just makes the h/u stay on all the time, and go to standby when of is pressed.

Anybody know what colour wire on the jvc loom is the memory wire? Same with the mk4 loom, which colour is this?

Im not sure on radio pre-sets, as it doesnt work (vaux plug had been cut off and a std type aerial pin plug has been twisted/taped on (trying to source a new front section for the vaux aerial from another car)

any ideas? as its bugging me

Had a wee google for a diagram but cant find one, just user manuals.

This has a diagram page3 but not the same model http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/0...t0248-004a.pdf

    Yellow is the constant live,

Probably find the wiring is exactly the same on all models though, they prob use the same iso connctor plug thing

ETA: this thread has a pin out for iso wires.... http://www.mk3oc.com/forum/showthread.php?p=512400

the unit will have a yellow and a red these are reversed on most vauxhalls the unit may have the swappable plugs in its loom already

if you connect them both to the yellow it will run permanently

are you swapping the red to yellow and the yellow to red or just one to another?

get a test meter to find wich is the switched live on the car loom as with a hacked off plug you never know whats happened to the loom lol

time to bust out the multimeter, or test lamp if you dont have one

A mate of mine always used to buy cars that had the wiring cut about 6inches back inside the dash lmao

i would try joining the read and yellow together on the jvc and connect them to the constant supply on the vx wiring, just to eliminate a knacked unit, then sort the wiring acordingly.

How would that iliminate any memory problems? As the h/u will be switched on, or standby all the time. Which would mean the settings remain as i set

As i say, ill need to check what is what with a multimeter and take it from there

it would be fine fo rthe unit but obviously youd take the front panel off to turn it off as you should anyway

if the loom on the iso is complete swapping the big yellow and red connectors is all thats needed but you have to swap both if you just join the switched to the permanent aswell it stays on permanently
