    help :(

hey all. just wondering if anyone can reccomend me a garage that deals with alarms/remote central locking around the nottingham area, as my rcl has stopped working. i havent got a clue about rcl or alarms so i havent really been able to do anything about it, ive looked at the units in the car and all the connections are solid no loose wires as far as i can see.

Any help and reccomendations would be brilliant, as the car has been delocked by a previous owner and cant be locked

    Cheers.

    Dan

Try turning on the ignition and pressing the button on the keyfob within 20 seconds or so. This is the standard "resync" procedure for Vauxhall remotes.

If its a Vaux alarm then chances are you'd be best going to a Vaux dealer if the above fails.

    Re: help :(

If you know where the reciver module of your RC is situated, have a look at it, should have a relay which operates factory fitted alarm, as recently my car was broken into to be driven away and was prevented by the strong steering lock mechanism and the barrel could not be destroyed by them despite using a massive screwdriver, and even if they had sucseeded that the engine would not have started due to the immobiliser which requires a key with an appropriate transponder, but they left a lot of mess for me to fic, like both door handles and steering lock barrel and then I had to even change my boot lock to keep one key that fits all 4 locks.

But i found out why the factory fitted alarm never worked, thats because a micro switch on the driver's door lock operates a cam that sets and resets the alarm when you manually lock or unlock the driver's door, so it is not difficult to convert this mechanical system to an RC system using a small reciever module with a relay or two, (two relays one for setting the alarm on and one for setting it off) and wiring the wires that goes into the factory fitted microswitches which operate with the driver's door key. But my car is a calibra and so i am not sure if your Astra may have similar concept.

I have now got this alarm setting fixed using a little timer that before getting out of the car, I press on this button and this sets the alarm ON with a clicking noise of all door solinoids locking up, but after getting out when I shut the door the
door solinoids click on again (open) and as I shut the door I have to then use my key to manually lock the driver's door which then secures my car and the roof LED starts to flash indicating the alarm is now ON, and when I come back and use my key to open the door again, the alarm resets , although this is not a good system, as a screw driver could be used in the driver's side door to destroy the barrel and manually turn the internal cam to reset the alarm, so i will be wiring into it a 2 channel receiver and a small key fob with two buttons one for locking and one for unlocking, and still use the key for dead locking etc.
