astra gsi alarm

hey all. ive got a bit of a problem with my alarm. when i lock the car only one side of my indicators flash in acknoledgment (sp) and the siren doesnt activate either. tryed to set it off using the sensor under the bonnet. as far as i know, its a standard vauxhall alarm. as i have a vauxhall key fob and a vauxhall sticker and lettering on the alarm unit in the car itself...any help would be appreciated.

car is a 1.8 astra gsi 1993.
