With regards sub aiming/positioning;
Avoid having them firing across the boot or directly at each other.....I would have them firing either directly to the front or directly to the rear......( I would expect directly toward the rear would yield best results).....
Bass transference into the cabin is always an issue with the E36, If possible remove any shelf mounted rear speakers, heavily deaden all the boot, (pay particular attention to the boot lid and rear panel)......
With regards front components;
Installation is the key, mount the mids on MDF baffles, deaden both the inner & outer door skins and effectively seal all access holes in the process, (take care not to foul any electrical motors, moving parts or control rods), a door deadened in this manner will allow the mid to reproduce a fair helping of punchy mid-bass which will vastly improve overall quality and warmth.....
Try to select a set of components that have 'silk dome' tweeters, these tend to have a much softer top end, nothing worse than a harsh front end.....
Coustic Compressor components when installed in the above fashion give fantastic results, if these aren't to your taste then how about
Rainbow 265 Deluxe components that are slightly dearer.....
With regards wiring the subs;
Each sub is dual 4ohm, so with both coils wired in 'parallel' it would present an overall 2ohm load.....
Both subs show a 2ohm load, so with each sub wired in 'series' it would then present an overall 4ohm load....
The picture in my previous post shows this.....
When you get the JBL GTO 14001e amp you will notice it has two sets of speaker output terminals, these are connected in 'parallel' inside the amp to facilitate easy connection of multiple subs.....
If you wire the subs as above, then simply use one pair of terminals on the amp, (don't bridge the amp or connect one sub to each pair)......
You could if you wish wire each subs coils in series making each sub present an overall 8ohm load, like this....
Then simply connect both subs using both sets of terminals on the amp, (as you would if fitting two single coil subs)....This will present an overall 4ohm load to the amp.....
If your still not sure, let me know & I will do you a quick sketch.....
Think thats about it at the moment.....
