Alarm advice. Thatchem meaning.

I am going to have an alarm fitted to my cavalier. I have just been doing some research and im not sure on which one to get. Im not fitting it for the sole purpose of getting cheaper insurance, thats more of a bonus. Im after piece of mind.

I have to looked into the Thatchem approved alarms but im not sure about the catagories. Is that just to determine the type of alarm? The alarms I have looked at so far dont have trackers, are these classed as ad-ons or am I looking in the wrong place

I google'd alarms and it seemed to be clifford alarms did the same as the others just for more money. I also done a search on hear and it looks like there are alot of Toad alarms, is this the way to go???

As for "goodies" some of them dont mean a great deal to me lol. Total closure I pressume closes windows etc. I havent got electric windows at the moment. Is it easier to get them in first? I like the idea of remote start but didnt see it on the ones I looked at.

Really i'd like an alarm/imob tracker, remote c/l poss engine start, anything else is a bonus Looking possible budget £450 can stretch... abit

Im not to clued up on this sort of stuff so any info would be great.

Many thanks

Buy a flashing LED and stick it in a little black box and mount it on the dashboard, and cost 20p save the rest of £449.80

Re: Alarm advice. Thatchem meaning.

Seriously though I am not kidding!! I own an Opel manta gte, in 1990when it was almost brand new and I got it home , 3 days later someone broke its front passenger door glass, it cost £80.00 just to replace that, £80.00 was a lot of money then, you could buy a whole front screen for an average family car for that whereas it only bought a front passenger door window glass.

Any way, I fitted a little black ABS box and fitted a flashing red LED, wired it to the fuse box across a certain fuse such that when you switched ignotion on the flashing LED would cut off and when you stopped the car and took keys out the dummy flashing LED would come on, ever since then no one else has ever broken into that car!!!

Yep, hide it some where, i have a few, my favortie it a microswitch under the seat, im only 5"6 so i garantee some1 will have to move the seat, when u do the microswitch is disconnected n the car wont start

with that, on for example the cuel pump, something else on the ignition circuit (coil wire) and another on the starter, that baby isnt going anywhere!

I will do that I should have all the bits I need. As for the cut off, thats a good idea. I had just remembered, one of my old cavaliers had the fuel pump running a switch hidden behind the dash. I will also do something like that. With this I might just look at a cheaper alarm, as with those cut off switch's it wont go anywhere.

Its good no one has broken into it since, have you put an alarm sticker on any of the glass?
