after something that will be ok in a sealed enclosure ideally as id like it to be more punchy than the bandpass i had before (ordinary vibe "black air" x2) as they couldnt keep pace with music that wasnt mega bass heavy![]()

i have 2 12" vibe space subs, with the right amp they are pretty much the deepest subs for the cash,i listen to a lot of early 90`s gabber/dutch hardcore and handle that with no problems.
so they are ok sealed then? only vibe stands for vented innovative bass enclosures or something was wondering if they wernt keen on sealed...

mine are sealed and get one hell of a pasting, they were my mates before i got them and the boxes were built for his cav gsi as show car for a vibe installer,so yes they are fine in a sealed enclosure but will work a bit better in a vented enclosure.
ignore the dirty boot, that was just after putting them in.
heard all good things about theses subs for the cash mate!!
i got a loan and got diamonds instead, lol
try ice design for bits as there in bristol now but done mine and found them very cheap like some!
i am driving in me car !!!
its a vauxhall ,Not a jaguar!!!
wereabouts are they bud online doesnt seem to be giving results....

i would recommend you try to get a listen to a few different set ups before you take the plunge and make another ill informed purchase....
you request subs that will supply more punch?
system punch should really come from the mids, not the subs.....
you've not stated what power is available, you've not stated if you will be using a custom enclosure nor the available space for the enclosure....
no mention of budget either....
you state you require an "ok" sub, just what effect are you trying to achieve.....
i assume your after a fairly musical system, which tbh will sound much better using a sealed or ported enclosure,(try to get a listen to a twin 12" "CBR EVO")....
the only ref to "vibe space" subs I've come across recently was HERE...
you may find it advantageous to register on "talkaudio" and seek guidance from more people who have actually used these subs....
if it sounds right to you, then its right.
by punch i mean it can keep up uh... for eg the missus has one 12" jbl sealed in her astra on a kenwood amp and it sounds so much clearer and responsive than mine did even tho i had an extra 700 watts (rms)
and 2 x 15's albeit not in the best enclosures
500wrms @4ohm for each sub....
budget is not great the space ones are near the limit if i bought two...
so id be better off with a twin 12 evo ready built jobbie? even with the normal vibes in it..?

tbh mate i simply suggested the "CBR EVO DUAL 12" ported because i've actualy had a play with a set, it gave deep hard bass that was surprisingly loud and clear, definition wasn't bad but they did seem to be slightly out tone wise....
i drove them hard with a JBL 1201 for quite some time playing music, but i was then asked to play a few test tones, after only a few seconds you could smell the coils, with smoke appearing out the ports after approx 60 secondslmao lmao ...
have a look at THESE, check out the vibe space subs, and a few others that fall into your price bracket....should give you some idea of what you want.....
and just to add, in your shoes i would probably follow the JBL route, you seem to like your other halfs...(on music the GT4s will love 500watts rms in a sealed enclosure)...
i've had a few JBL GT4-12s fromHERE, very good vfm....
if it sounds right to you, then its right.
will the gt4 take 500 watts? says there only 250 rms max still at that price there expendablewill they keep up with the vibes or do i just buy more of them?

if you have a few extra quid, check out the later JBL GT5-12s, they are slightly heavier subs that seem to be holding up well to some daily abuse, heres yet another LINKY, that supplies enclosure info for both sealed and ported enclosures, and supplies a few refferences to the good ole GT4s.....
thread containing somePICS
just in case you would like to have a listen to the GT5s jollow thisLINKY
just to add i used a JBL 1201 to drive two GT4s with over 500watts rms each for over 12 months with no issues,(other than moaning neighbours, the setup was in my bedroom for a few weeks running off a power supply unit rescued from an old amp & sub display at local ice shop).....
HTH mate....
if it sounds right to you, then its right.
ignore the GT5s then,(must point out i prefer the GT4s, imo the GT5s aren't as musical as the GT4s)....
if it sounds right to you, then its right.
right then got 2 gt4's on theway onto the enclosure ho wbig do i need internally?
ive seen a ready made twin one that had 2 x 1 cubic foot?
going into a cav hatch boot btw...

1 to 1.5 cubic feet is fine for GT4s,(sealed)....
i always recommend a trip to local DIY store,(B&Q or similar), to get some loft insulation....
use this to wad the enclosures, it gives a deeper more controlled bass and allows for higher input power.....
to correctly wad the enclosure;
cut two pieces of loft insulation to the same size as the back of the enclosure, place the first piece in and fluff it up until it fills half the depth of the enclosure,(basically this allows the pulses in the enclosure to dissipate quicker), now cut a hole in the centre of the second piece to match the subs basket, pass the speaker cables through this hole as you place it in the enclosure, now fluff this piece up so it fills the remaining space.....now fit the sub and make some noise.....
if your after slightly more SPL,(as in bass you can feel more), then rather than wadding the enclosure. simply attach carpet underlay to all internal faces except the actual subs baffle....by carpet underlay i mean the egg box type tredair stuff,(this will need gluing and stapling in place)...
if i'm covering an area your already familiar with, then please don't take offence, there's none implied or meant.....
EDIT;
just noticed its all going in a cav hatch, sweet, i know how its going to sound now....
a few pointers from experience;
the best sound i got from my GT4s was with them firing at the hatch panel,(as in rear facing), but i found that if i lifted the enclosures by a few inches and aimed them like my P1220e's,(so the underside of the parcel shelf loaded the cones), they performed great.....
if it sounds right to you, then its right.
yer yours do look the business.. how much are the 1220's usually? look a lot more "rugged"

the last four new ones to appear on ebay i've bought.....paid around £50 each if memory serves me correctly.....
they weren't purchased for me, they were purchased for friends who like the sound of mine....
two went into an Astra, one into a Pug 106 and one into a custom ported enclosure in a Mondeo ST 24....the one in the Mondeo is truly outstanding off 750watts rms....he just has boot flexing issues to sort....
the P1220e's in my car are 4 years old now, i paid £300 for the pair,(that back then was a buy one, get one free deal)....
the only issue with them is weight, each sub is 17 kilo's, then you need to add the enclosure....
a P1220e inverted on a 1.2 cubic foot enclosure, as you can see it's not a lightweight....
