Delco CDR 500 vs Siemens CDR 500 - what's the difference?

hi

i have a 2000 (X) reg Tigra (old shape) with a Delco CDR 500 that works fine - now i also have a Siemens CDR 500 which was a later model for later Vauxhalls i believe

if i put it in my tigra it works fine (ie: radio and CD plays) but there is NO display on my dash panel

is this because it needs to be in a later vaux with a bigger dash panel? i don't actually know anyone with a later vaux so i can't have a look!

any help appreciated thanks

its becuase it would have previously been fitted to a vauxhall with a 10 digit display.
you can swap it to 8 digit mode i think you hold 1 and 3, or 2 and 4 or something like that, keep holding it, it will say display 10 then will beep then the screen will work.
the cd players are exactly the same, it is just set up for a different car

edit: thinking about it im 95% certain you hold 3 + 5. you turn the radio off, ignition on, hold 3+5 then turn it on and keep holding them.
failing that try 4+6 but im almost certain it is 3+5

ps u selling it? if so pm me im after one

As above - its in 8 digit mode instead of 10 digit mode (or vice versa)

Try the 4+6

I have a theory that 4+6= 10 and 3+5=8 for the digit displays

Yeh i see what you mean dom, would make sense that way. Anyway, tried both now and either way i get a loud beep but nothin on the display. I'm wondering if the cd his even connected to the check display now. Since i've had the car its only ever had an aftermarket head unit so i aint sure if it ever worked. Any suggestions

I spy 3 brown wires with a white stripes and one red wire with a grey stripe on my haynes Vectra manual.

They go to pins 17,18 and 22 on the radio (brown with white stripe) which in turn go to pints 9,10 and 11 on the radio. The red/grey wire is pin 7 on the radio and goes to pin 8 on the TID

check the red/grey wire is connected as its sometimes cut when fitting aftermarket headunits to stop the date going off on the display
