    6x9s in Cav mk3

Hope some one on here can help me out. I've just got a pair of 6x9s(for free, won them before you ask) and I am wondering wether or not it's possible to get them in the rear shelf of my cav mk3 saloon? It looks fairly structural to the car so I don't want to go cutting metal out that should be in there. Any ideas any one? Please?

im preety sure you have to cut the shelf(the metal bit)to get them in.the other way is to put a spacer between the speaker and shelf to raise it so the magnet isnt so far down?
ps glad i got an hatchback

You CANNOT cut the metal shelf, its an MOT failure (of course, that's if they check!!!). However, I seem to remember there are cutouts that can house a smaller speaker magnet. You might still have to build a spacer to lift the 6x9's up out of the shelf a bit.

They can also be installed in the doors with a suitable build, if you're feeling adventurous.

What do you mean about the cut outs? The magnet should go thru the hole fine, it's the basket thats the prob.
Lee69- Yeah the hatchback is better for ice, but the saloon is sooo much better looking .Basically then I've either got to cut the shelf or build in some spacers? Any one sell a rear strut brace for the cav Mk3 as well??

Cavlad - I have fitted many a stereo in my time.

If you want I will have a look at building a spacer or door pod for you if you want.

You can just bolt them up from underneath and they will fire through the standard hole. I did this in my Cav Saloon back in '97 so I can't remember tha clearly but I don't think I even needed to make a spacer and they worked fine!
