| MIGWeb User | seeing as you're running 6x9s and amps (which is generally a no-no but i'm sure wallopsri will point you to his thread on audio questions) why not just use one amp for the subs and one for the 6x9s? then you can high-pass filter the 6x9s and low-pass filter the subs to get the best sound out of both sets of speakers. |

| MIGWeb User | best thing to do is run one amp for the subs and one for the 6x9s as suggested, if you need any help on how to do this and set them up then il be happy to let you know. as for running 6x9s with amps then im just wondering what is wrong with that? i install competition sound installs so if its the fact of running 6x9s that is the problem then yeah i agree as the only 6x9s i would use are vibe qb69's but if its a problem with running amps with speakers other than subs then im confused :S this isnt a dig or anything i am just interested. |

| MIGWeb User | Hi there, yer i have a rough idea on what everything is, i just need to know exactly how to wire it all up so i can get the best sound from it if you could let me know i have 2 10" jbl 1000w subs and a 12" jbl 1000w sub, and yes i do have the vibe qb69 6x9. What would be the best set up and how would i go about doing it? Thanks |

there's no problem with running the two at once, as long as they don't share the same airspace. if they do, the air shifted by the sub interferes with the movement of the 6x9s, which puts extra strain on them and causes them to distort and eventually break due to excessive wear. i would really consider 6x9s to be an alternative to fitting a sub due to size limitations in small boots etc and i would avoid mixing the two unless they are both boxed (ie. not running 6x9s in a parcel shelf directly above the subs). if i did use 6x9s and a sub i would high pass the 6x9s as mentioned above and use them for high and mid level frequencies and low pass the sub for the bass. that still won't cancel the damaging effect of the sub output but at least it'll sound good whilst it lasts and it should minimise the damage as the 6x9s aren't trying to output such low frequencies against the force of the air being moved by the sub.

just basic info like; amplifiers---make and model,(are they a matching pair). subs---how many---vc configuration and impedence. by bridging amps, did you mean bridging channels, or actually STRAPPING two amps together as master and slave???

with regard,"bridging two amps together",---you can strap two amps together to double the output power, but the amps in question would need to be strappable,(they need to support this feature and be switchable between master and slave), so i'm assuming you didn't mean this... i can take a wild stab in the dark that you have two 4 channel amps, you wish to run both JBL GT4-10's of one,(fronts and rears bridged), the vibe 6x9's of amp number two's front channels and the JBL GT4-12 of amp number two's rear channels bridged... if this is the case then i would recommend you select one particular size of sub,(either 3 10's or 3 12's), and use the two spare ch's for the front end. it may look nice to see a boot full of speakers, but to get 3 different types of speaker to play in harmony would require a seperate active crossover network.

by "bridging", do you mean bridging channels,(so a 4ch amp becomes a 2 ch amp with each ch giving twice the power).....or strapping two amplifiers together to double the output. as stated if your going to strap two amps together they need to be strappable,(most aren't), and be switchable between master and slave.... if you post up a list of the items you wish to use,(inc make and model of all amps), then i will see what the best way forward is, but at the moment I'm simply guessing, and so wasting my time...

| MIGWeb User | Hi there well i havent got anything just yet, just had some things in mind, basicly i have around £400 and was just woundering what would be the best bass sound i could get, i would pref 3 subs if possible as i have a boot enclosure built for 3 subs for my car, dont mind wat size. | MIGWeb User | When you get your amp(s) there will be wiring diagrams in with them which are easy to understand. I'm not much good with electrics and I managed it. I would buy an amp to match your 6x9s and front speakers and a seperate amp to power your subs as previously mentioned. |
