    loudness from speakers

currently in my corsa sport i have...

pionner head unit (all speakers connected to head unit)
    standard speakers in doors
    pionner 6x9s in rear shelve
jbl 300wrms sub in boot, run by a kenwood 4ch amp

not much i know, but it does the job, anyway, before, it was ok, i could hear enough bass, even on low volume, and i could hear the sound from the rear speakers over the fronts

but, a few weeks back, i needed to test the kicker kx800.2 amp, so i disconnected the kenwood amp, and wired up the kicker amp, not touching the speakers at all, tested the amp, worked fine (except for one channel broke!) enough bass from sub, etc

so i disconnected the kicker, and reconnected the kenwood, not altered any settings on either head unit or amp

but lately, the sound has moved, i can hear the front speakers over the 6x9s or any bass, i have to turn it up loud to hear anything, but sound is coming out, even at low volume

    so whats the problem?

    cheerz ta very mooch!

sounds like a phasing issue mate.

check headunit menu for a phasing feature,(will give two options 0 degrees or 180 degrees).

check all speaker wiring from the amp is wired with the correct polarity,(+ve to +ve, -ve to -ve).
if it sounds right to you, then its right.

some pioneers have something called 'front image enhancement' built in (FIE in the audio menu). Basically, this controls the bass output to the front speakers, turning off the bass output for the speakers past a certain frequency. If this is wrong (could have been reset if you disconnected the battery terminal(s) at any point) then the sound may be out as you described.

also, the equalizer may have the treble settings turned up too high, or the bass too low. try looking through the audio settings on the head unit to see if this is the case.

    Hope this helps.

PS what head unit is it?

at a guess it sounds like the 6x9 are out of phase with each other.

Try disconnecting the sub and seeing if you can hear the 6x9s any better.

Try swapping the speaker wires over on the sub and see what happens.

Otherwise it will probably be a head unit or amp setting that got changed by accident.

Is it just the sub that is running off the amp?
