    Sunken floor boot build

I have made a boot build where I built a false floor using battoning (cant remember exactly where I nicked this from but someone on here!) and then mounted my sub underneath it cutting out an area but leaving a cross of mdf above the sub. I then covered it with carpet so that it couldnt be seen. The idea of the cross was to protect the sub from weight dropping into it.

The trouble is that this now vibrates like hell so I will have to change it! Is there any way I can protect the sub if I just have it showing through the floor? (ie so that I can still puts stuff in my boot). This was the reason for this re design in the first place!

I have sound proofed all the wheel well and although the bass isnt as tight as it was in a box it still seems to sound ok!

Any suggestions? Sorry I know this is the worst explained thing ever!

Failing this I may just go for some 6x9s in a shelf... They just arent the same though are they?!

Car is a 93 astra gsi by the way

would you like me to give you a link to a similar build being done by a girl?

    EDIT; as requested http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/vbb/showthread.php?t=216309

this gives a general idea to what can be hidden below a false floor, there are a number of ways you can protect the subs cone, the easiest is the use a strong mesh grill covering the hole, then simply carpet over in the same manner as you do with a stealth shelf. or simply have a second full size false floor thats removable when not carrying items in the boot.

Cheers for that! The problem is making a box that will fit in the astras spare wheel well as I would quite like to be able to put it all back together if need be and the floor is slightly domed... (Reaches for lump hammer!!)

Im wondering whether one of the below things would do sufficiently...

With the bext will in the world its not a show car - I just want something that works and doesnt look totally ****!!

without seeing your boot i would only be guessing, but, most car audio outlets will have sub grills for sale, pop round a few and have a look.
