I had this alarm factory fitted when i got my mk4 astra from new and all ive had is problems with it. I went to a vauxhall garage and they told me they could not turn it off and i dont believe them. Ive now got a clifford fitted to my car but the old alarm is still causing problem, it keeps going off even though i have not turned it on and on a few occassions it has unlocked my doors for some reason. Is it true that the alarm system is with in the central locking control box? If this is so can i change this box for just a locking box and get rid of the alarm? If this is so where is this box located? I really want to get rid of this alarm once and for all as its driving me mad.
i know this doesn't help, but my mates new Vectra had to go back a few times due to alarm issues,(he would come out in the morning for work and his car would be unlocked and on occasions his windows would also be down )
took them a few visits to sort it, but it seems ok now, hope you manage to get yours sorted mate.
The MK4's suffer from power sounder issues that cause the problems your saying. Is it the whole alarm going off or just a siren? If it's just the siren unplug it with the ignition on and throw it away, it's mounted in the passenger wheel arch
What you have been told about it is true as it is part of the locking unit in the drivers kickpanel. You could probably change it for a normal locking unit but it may need reprogramming by vauxhall
Bah i was hoping that wasnt the case, as my vauxhall immobilization has been bypassed as my chip is secured somewhere in rack so only my clifford one worked would that be a problem?
