    Astra G Standard Radio

Hi peeps we have a Astra G in our glorious workshop and we have had to replace some dash bulbs in doing so the tech has taken out the radio. We have replaced the bulbs but now the radio only comes up with the "SAFE" on the display!!!

We have phoned the local dealer and said to leave it and it will come back up within a time span of 15minutes or 20 hours

There is no way we can leave a car in the car park with the ignition on waiting for the fecking radio!!!

Is there a quick fix for this????

The 15 or 20 hours is nonsense.

You need the radio code - usually in the plastic wallet you get with the car. If its not there, go to vaux and ask for the code. Do you know where the car was bought from?

As above. Credit card sized thing, then read the handbook about how to put the code in. Everytime you attempt and fail it'll make you wait longer, if you enter it wrong too many times you'll own a paperweight.

I'm fairly certain this is the way.

You need the code handy, and you have to have the ignition on and then switch the radio on whilst holding the AS button. After a few seconds it should beep and read "CODE" then changing to "10 - - - - " to enable the code entry. (Assuming you've not incorrectly entered a code already. The "10" is the number of chances you have left!)

Enter the code using the preset number buttons (1-4 scroll the respective digits on the display) and hold AS again until it beeps.

If it doesn't quite do what I say, just switch it off and find the book. You'll not incur the time delay or lose a chance until you actually enter the code wrong and hold AS to confirm it.
