How to wire a dual-voicecoil sub off 2 channel amp?

At the moment it's running the two voicecoils in series, bridged across the amp's two channels

Should I run each voicecoil of a separate channel?

what is the spec of the amp? and the ohm's per v/c on the sub?

It's for a friend...

It's an old-school Kenwood 2 channel 600W max amp, the sub is a 12" DB-audio. (not sure if it's raptor or t-rex - the cheaper of the two!)

I think the sub is 2ohms, not sure on the amp spec
