    Smile dash display

    if i connect afther sales headunit i know i will loose steering wheel controls but what about lcd display will time and date temp still show on screen

    ive fitted a alpine head unit in my mark 3 and it works fine m8 hope this helps

    yes time and temp will show, date will show only if its turned off unless you cut one of the wires, (not sure which)

    why not get a head unit that does the controls and display?

    Depending on what head unit it is, you should be able to use the steering wheel controls with it. You will just need to buy an adaptor for the car/stereo.

    new pioneers/sony's etc are virtually all compatible

    for non-compatble stereo's, adaptor is around 30 quid from local halfords. If you also want to retain your LCD display, the adaptor for that is 60 quid.
