    Crackly speakers!?!

    hi when my car isnt running the speakers are fine but when i start the car up all the speakers go crackly, i dunno whats up! can anybody help me?

    Sounds like you have a earth problem or your alternator diode pack is a bit iffy. Check the large braided and thick earth wires around the engine bay.

    i have exactly the same problem...also pressing the brake makes more crackles.... have re earthed the amp and problem still there is driving me nuts. are you running the speakers through an amp like mine?

    nope i havent got an amp, mine are just running through the headunit

    Then your earth fault is with your car loom and light earthing. Basically the lights having a poor earth take other routes to earth which will include going through your amp or near that earth point causing voltage noise where the amp is earthed.

    sounds about right... i figured it would be something to do with the cars earthing. what would you suggest i do about it?

    Go round car, check/wiggle connectors, clean where they attach to body.

    might be interference? just make sure when you do this earth checking that the wires to the speakers havent been coiled around the loom for the lights for 'convenience'

    Mines just started doing this, but it only sounds like the 6x9's at the back.

    I'll have a nosey round the engine bay for knackered earth.
