Tweeter location

I have just got a set of 2-way components that I want to fit. I was just wondering how far apart I should place the tweeter and woofer. Does it matter if they are a long way apart?

Generally you should mount them as close together as you can so that the sound is all coming from the same place. The trouble with doing this is that as the mids are usually very low down the tweeters will be too low. You can get away with this with mids because the sound is less directional but the tweeters should be more or less pointed at your ears. I have used the standard door/dash setup on my Cav which is a wee bit too far apart but the tweeters bring the sound up in front of me.

If mounting the tweeters on the doors try to put them as high up as you can.
