    installing sub box

Ive just got meself a sub + box, about to order amp, but am unsure about wiring it up.
My sony headunit has a sub out connection, am I right in thinking that this signal has already gone through a low pass filter? Or does it need a separate one or one in the amp?

All it says in the sony manual is that the sub output is mono.

Also, what amps are the best. At the mo, my choices are between a sony, pioneer or a maystar.

Thanks for any info u can give.

your sony head unit has a low pass fillter built in so anything coming out of the sub out will have allready been filtered as you set up in the menu system.

    Cheers matey.
All i need now is to wire everything up.

Does it matter whether you put the power cable next to the rca leads, or should you run them separately, as a mate of mine has said??

yeah you should not run the power leads down the same run as the RCA leads it can cause interference. on mine i've run the amp power and the head unit on wire down one side and the RCA leads down the other. this way you get the best sound quality.
