How do i get the cage out?

Hi everyone

Ive just bought a cav TD and the original stero is gone, the last owner said thieves nicked it and made a mess of the cage, so he tried to remove whats left, and cocked it up.........really badly

there is lots of sharp metal left and not a lot of the cage!!!!!

How do i get whats left of the cage out?

Ive tryed pulling and its like the back of the cage is bigger than the hole !?!?!

first job is bend back all the retaining hooks with a screwdriver.

second. these cages are normally designed to collapse in the middle.

Ie squash the middle in and it should come out.

hope that is clear enough.

I took a pair of pliers and twisted until the cage had wound around the pliers, then pulled. Alternatively, if you start from the centre console, you can remove enough of the bottom of the dash to get at it from the other side. Be careful though, there's an awful lot of loom behind there, you don't want to be cutting that.
