Re: any1 for a 200+ bhp astra xe

hmm what a pile o ****e!

that is no way a gsi! no front or rear bumpers, skirts are bodged on, merit interior! plus the fact he thinks a good exhaust and filter will bring bhp up from 147 to 200! also the crap that you need to trailer it for the vic test cause it has no mot and you need an mot to get a vic test.

and he still wants 900 quid!

Re: any1 for a 200+ bhp astra xe

Ebay ADs like that piss me off soooo much......to the extent that i have been mailing the seller about it.
Heres some of the replys........
I wrote.....
"Never seen or read as much bull**** in my life.
TBH i dont think that is a real GSI.If it was then what has happened to the GSI bumpers and grille etc??
And 200bhp???Your having a laugh. That kind of power aint possible on the standard exhaust and inlet manifold.
I think u need to re-write your advert but state that the car is a dog and imo its worth no where near the £900 ur wanting for it.Some idiot will buy that under the impression everything u have said is true, whereas we both know its lies.I am going to report u to ebay as these type of ads are mis-leading and complete ****."

They replied with....
"Funny the DVLA says it's a GSI ffs, I really don't care"

So i replied with.....
"Ok so why are u advertising it with 200bhp when a few ppl have told u it wont be pushing that power??Itl be 155bhp at the very most, trust me!!!"

To which they replied....
"Coz i was a gullible fukwit who was told by the nob who sold it to me that it was 200bhp, but I have changed it all now anyway. it's defo not standard though, standard GSI's don't wheelspin in every gear upto 5th."

So i said......
"Modified N/A GSI's dont spin up to 5th gear either.Infact with enough revs and a wet road u prob could spin alot of average weight cars with 150 bhp up to 4th.Ud need to be banging up the gears quick as hell tho at max revs and realistically ud only be doing 30mph.You couldnt put it in 3rd at 3k and floor it and get it too spin,no chance so what your saying dosnt count and is misleading again."

And they came back with....
"No wet road comes into it. Yes max revs and from memory upto 80mph. I had a old style supra twin turbo that didn't spin in gears, I imagine that must've had some bhp... fuk knows I just drive the things, I'm getting an RX-7 soon as I can afford it anyway."

So what theyr saying is it spins up to 5th gear in the dry

LOL at the chipped and mapped ecu and the bodykit rear bumper....even tho its came from a merit like all the other parts.

P.S is it possible to change the V5 to say that its a GSI??
Look inside aswell it has manual mirrors instead of ellecy.Im going to ask if it has T/C as thats a sure fire way to find out for sure.

Re: any1 for a 200+ bhp astra xe

It is registered as a 2L so I dunno

VEHICLE ENQUIRY Services Provided By DVLA: The enquiry is complete
The vehicle details for K7 JPF are:
Date of Liability 01 10 2006 Date of First Registration 21 10 1992 Year of Manufacture 1992 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1998CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour WHITE Vehicle Type Approval null The information contained on this page is correct at the time of enquiry. Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle 6 Months Rate £101.75 12 Months Rate £185.00

If it was a GSI it would have the fuel computer wouldnt it? if you click the larger pic it looks like it has a standard TID.

This obviously isn't 200BHP like I was told and first thought but my BMW I had before had 193BHP, as certified by BMW and this beats it 0-60 hands down it may be less but it's quicker and pulls more than any standard Red Top Vauxhall I've been in, (Calibras), and some non-standard (with exhaust systems etc).

Ever heard of power to weight ratios

Re: any1 for a 200+ bhp astra xe

Gearstick is wrong as well, Astra GSi's had the same smaller knobbed gearstick as the Cavalier GSi's didn't they?

Re: any1 for a 200+ bhp astra xe

I take it back, it does have the smaller gearknob, and appears to have the fuel computer, but why in hell would anyone remove all the specific GSi kit and stick with a pauper spec stuff?

As for 'custom back bumper'...... whats custom about it?!?

Re: any1 for a 200+ bhp astra xe

I think it is a GSi. It's worth the price of the engine though, and you wouldn't get 900 quid for alloys and reg plate.

Re: any1 for a 200+ bhp astra xe

Could be a gsi; there's no side aerial which is the usual giveaway.

Ultimate way to tell is to check underneath the backbox; if there are 2 mounting points on the body of the car then it's a gsi, if there's 1 then it is not

my guess is that it was nicked and stripped of its parts hence needing a vic check

Re: any1 for a 200+ bhp astra xe

I'm sure if the reg plate was shown in the ad you could check if it was a GSI by doing a quick insurance quote on directline. I tried the reg plate 1337 calibra put up and can't get it to go past the first screen. My guess is if it is a GSI then it was partially broken for spares and someone had it on the cheap and just slapped standard gear on it to get it up and running.

edit: Directline show the car to be a GSI so my guess it probably was partially stripped and rebuilt.

For £700 I bought this....

Which now looks like this....

So to pay £700 for that you'd have to be just a tad dull. Mine needs a bit of TLC still to get looking spot on.
