Some might know but I went to Velos last Tuesday to have a Unichip fitted. End result was the Unichip being removed due to Simtec 56.0 speed output not compatible with Unichip.
Velos told me my engine is running very lean. It even has some occasional knocking. Engine is 95 2.0 Ecotec with K&N panel filter, back box and running Optimax Ė so standard basically. Velos said whatever I do donít run anything less then Optimax. They also said the ignition was quite far advanced.
It looks like the Unichip will be a non-starter so am looking into alternative ways to rich up the mixture, and would appreciate peoples thoughts on the following options.
Velos have said remove cat and fit a FSE valve, setting valve on the rollers. They tell me that at full throttle lambda sensor is deactivated which would allow FSE to work.
Another option Iíd like to consider is getting a custom mapped ECU ROM made. This would be similar to a super chip, but instead of a set program having one made on the rollers. Does anyone make these?
Final option is cutting the wire to my engine temp sensor and fitting a resistor inline tricking the engine to think itís cold and dropping more fuel in. Problem I donít have a clue what resistance to use.
If any engine tuners here have any comments on the above or any other options Iíll appreciate hearing them.
Also I had a MOT yesterday and this was the fast idle result - 2500 to 3000rpm
CO level 0.01%, HC 12ppm, Lambda 1.00
