my 16v cav mk2 seems to be popping like it has a very slight miss the exhaust is also very sooty inside is it likely that it may be over fuelling if so what could be causing this and would this affect performance or possibly cause damage to the engine.
over fuelling is usually safe, aslong as its not extreme. More fuel just cools the engine slightly . The only downside is obviously the MPG's and a slight loss of power.
If it`s overfuelling to an extreme then the fuel COULD wash the oil off the bores and pop !!!
