Can someone tell me about how the driveshaft bearing on the right hand side driveshaft fits to the engine block as mine is very loose. i`m also guessing that this would cause no end of problems with the knock sensor?

The bearing is inside the gearbox (F20).
To change that its gearbox out time!.
Are you sure its just not the CV joint?
Was the CV joint ever removed before? If so was a new C clip ever fitted, these can wear out and the CV joint can wobble and even slide out with ease.
Half way along the driveshaft there`s the bearing which fits to the engine block and it`s this that is loose allowing the driveshaft to move up and down and side to side. just wondering if there`s any washers that should be in place to bolt it to the block properly?
Replacements should not cost much from Vauxhall, the part number is 11098331
No washers are shown, so they should not be required with the genuine GM bolts which are the type with a built in washer head IYKWIM. but if you use standard ones I would use a standard flat washer. Whatever bolts you use they should be threadlocked in.
For the record the bearing is available as a seperate part.
Cheers for all the help guys. i`ll get myself some new bolts asap. if i tighten mine any more they`ll go through the block!! someone must`ve put the wrong sized bolts back in when i had new gearbox etc put in. Just feel that this will be upsetting the knock sensor being so close to it.
