My block is down the engineering place at the moment. Because I'm going to wash it all out.
Only one problem. I haven't managed to get the oilway plugs out. I'm talking about the access plugs at each end. One is buried in the water pump hole, the other is where the gearbox bell housing would bolt on.
I've WD40d them, blowtorched them, impact drivered them. But no joy yet.
I'm giving them a final chance or else they'll be drilled out.
Have you tried a torx bit? It sounds daft but whenever i couldn't get a allen head screw/bolt undone, i just hammer in the nearest size torx bit, stick a breaker bar on the end and the screw comes undone.
Well I went round there tonight. Got started on the first plug.
Got the wrench on it. Pushed a bit. No movement.
Pushed a bit more. It undid. Just checked that it wasn't the thread being rounded off. No. It was turning.
Nice.
So did the same to the second one. It undid too.
Did the same to the third one. Bit of WD on it.
Result.
Undid.
So going round tomorrow to clean it all out.
