I asked on here what was envolved in putting a Corsa GSi engine into a 1.4 8v Corsa. The Corsa GSi was a L reg and the 1.4 8v Corsa was a K reg. I had more than 3 replys, all telling me that it was almost a straight swap. Reason being, I've sold a mate my "back end" smashed Corsa GSi so he could put the engine into his 1400 8v. It turns out that the back engine mount is different and the drivers side engine mount is very different - the GSi one mounts into a big hole in the chassis where as the 1.4 8v doesn't.
Can anyone suggest anything so this engine conversion can go ahead? is there some kind of a kit that can be bought to alter the engine mountings?
the rear mount is on the gearbox, not the engine so you should be able to use the one off the 1400, as for the front mount you can use the rubber section already on the 1400 chassis with the metal pice that goes to the engine from the 1.4 iirc
The bottom ends of the two engines are the same (small blocks) so if you use all the mounts from the 1400 it will fit fine. as they bolt to the block in the same place.
Defo swap whole engine and box together, much easier.
Hope it helps James
