I was checking over a mates engine 1.4 MPi this weekend and when I opened the oil filler cap air was being pushed out (when running), fairly strongly, there is a slight leak around the sump seal. It's not burning any oil and still performs well, suposedly done 60k, but could be more or just been ragged by previous owner
I'm guessing the rings are worn out and it's causing blow by in to the sump and hence the leak. So I guess it's find a newer bottom end and put that on time.
Please correct me if I'm wrong,
Is ther any thing else to do, run heavier oil maybe. To give a bit of time till a new bottome end needs sourcing, or maybe just put new rings in?
